Is SMZ-TMP DS The Right Medicine For Urinary Tract Infection?

Hi, I have been prescribed an antiobotic called smz-top dis for possibly a urinary tract infection. Levaquin nearly killed me a few years ago. Thus I am reluctant to take it. The pharmacist suggested that it may interact negatively with other melds that I take daily. These meds include: metformin, glimeperide, metoprolol, amlodopine, losartin, aspirin therapy. Should I be concerned?

Hello!

Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim usage may interact with Aspirin and Losartan, but it means that use of the antibiotic should be monitored.
If you have any side effect, or undesirable effect you should contact your doctor and explain whatever you think is going to wrong.
Usually there is no side effect using this antibiotic together with your medications, however be careful on any change you notice.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
