Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I had sex last month 18 May 2015 with my boy though we used protection but still my date has extended earlier it was 5 or 6 every month but for month of May it had extended and till now no periods. My doctor gave me Regestrone for my preriods. My question is to you that for in case if I m pregnant will this tablet stop my pregnancy or not ? Please let me know
It is just a progesterone (hormone) containing pill which is basically used to regularize the irregular menses or to postpone or prepone the periods. It does not cause abortion AND if pregnancy is suspected or continued after its consumption, then chances of congenital malformations in the growing fetus would be high.
You are advised to consult a gynecologist to take the pills containing Mifepristone & Misoprostol under her supervision if you are within 7 weeks of pregnancy and the pregnancy should not be ectopic.
Hope to have answered your query.
