Is Pristiq An Effective Alternative To Effexor?

I am currently taking Effexor ER, it has stopped working. The Dr. I am seeing and I have decided to change to another antidepressant. In the past I had success with Pristiq for several years, I felt it wasn t working any longer, switched to Cymbalta until Obama became Pres and insurance changed I couldn t afford it anymore. That is where the Effexor came in. I don t feel the Effexor is working anymore. Is it possible to go back to pristiq and have success? I have gained 25lbs over the past few years. I exercise 3-5 per week and I eat healthy. any thoughts?

both effexor and pristiq are related salts. only a minor difference.i dont think there should be any problem if you shift from effexor to pristiq.different people respond differently to antidepressants. if pristiq better suited you. you should go back to that prescription.some times depression itself is the cause of weight gain. effexor, pristiq and cymbalta all are weight neutral.they dont cause weight gain.
