Is Prisitq The Right Medicine For Bipolar Disorder?

hello. these are my questions: 1. is pristiq used to treat bipolar? 2. can prixtiq and effexor be taken together when one is tapering offf of one and going on the other? 3. is pristiq still effective and not harmful when the expiration date is 1/2011? thank you.

In bipolar disorder two phases can happen. Either manic phase or depression. Generally in both lithium or lamotrigine can be used as mood stabilizer.

1. However when sometime depression is not improving some anti depressant like venlfaxine(effexor) or desvenlafaxine (prestique) can be used but with cover of some mood stabilizer.

2. Prestique is active metabolite of effexor with as good as or more effective like effexor with lesser side effects so yes they can be taken together when on is tapering off and going to other.

3. Any drug must not be taken after expiry date. It can be harmful.
