Is Prednisone Advisable For Cold Induced Asthma?

asthma with current cold exacerbation...usually doc gives me methylprednisolone for it (prob happens 3 times a year) but he is on vacation and the last couple times it didnt completely make me better. Have some old prednisone (20 mg), was thinking of doing 2 days on 1 tab/day, 2 days on 3/4 tab a day, 2 days on 1/2 tab a day, and 2 days on 1/4 tab a day. Would this be ok, and would it work? I also have PCOS and am getting a minor procedure done in one week (hysteroscopy and DNC).
