Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, my 10 month old baby is suffering from cold and cough since 3 months on and off , consult to pediatrician, Dr. has prescribed Novamox syrup 2.5 ml twice a day.is it suitable for my baby and also need anymore investigation like sputum analysis or x ray?
Novamox contains amoxicillin, which is an antibiotic frequently given in infants for a lung infection, throat or ear infections. So, it is safe for your child to take it.
As for other investigations needed to evaluate him, the doctor would have ordered them if he found it necessary based on the findings in the physical examination. So, I very likely there was no need for investigations. On the other hand, your child is having an antibiotic that would take care of a lung infection if it is present.
I hope I have answered your query and have been helpful to you.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
