Is Nifedipine 30 Mg Safe To Consume Along With Lisinopril If The Patient Has Low BP?

my mother has a fractured pelvis and was in the hospital for 2 nights. when she was discharged the doctor gave her a prescription for nifedipine 30 mg twice daily. She already takes Lisinopril. Her blood pressure is normally low today it was 106/80 without taking the mifedipine. Is there some other reason to take the nifedipine?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The consultant may have prescribed additional anti hypertensive in concern with high BP during or after surgery.

Now as already BP is 106/80, there is no need of taking Nifedipine along with Lisinopril at all. On the reverse, its intake can cause further drop of the BP levels. For intake of Lisinopril also, I strongly recommend dose titer adjustments with her physician.

Thanks.

Regards.
