Is Mupirocin The Right Medicine For Redness On The Face?

My husbands face is extremly red it almost looks raw like a burn. He said it doesn t hurt or itch also ha Mupirocin ointment USP 2% and Ketoconazole Cream 2%. Can I have him use until we can get to the Doctor this one is 60g the Mupirocin isI this one is 22g.?

Hi,

Mupiricin is antibiotics while ketoconaziole is anti fungal .What you described does not appear to be any fungal or bacterial infection, so I don't understand if it would be wise to apply either of these creams. He may apply some emollient like olive oil, and avoid sun exposure until he sees his doctor.
