Is Monocef O Advisable For Stomach Infection In A Child?

My 1.5 years boy was suffering from some stomach upset. Doctors has prescribed SIBOFIX SYRUP AND PROWEL SACHET. But I did not found SIBOFIX syrup in chemist shop. Afterthat the doctor has prescribed monocef-o (50mg) for him. My question is monocef-o is used for cold & flu or for stomach purpose also? Please clear. Regards, Nivash Banerjee

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Monocef O is having combination of cefixime and ornidazole.
This combination is used mainly for gastrointestinal infection. So the treating doctor is suspecting stomach infection in your son's case and hence he prescribed this drug.
Monocef (cefixime) is common antibiotic generally used for common cold.
So Monocef and Monocef O are not exactly same, they are partly same.
You can give Monocef O to your son for present symptoms without any fear.
Also give oral rehydration solution (ORS).
Don't worry, he will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
