Is Microlut Contraindicated To Patients With High LDL And With Fibroids?

Hi! I have multiple fibroids within the myometrium with the largest on the post measuring up to 25 mm and anterior measuring approximately 19mm. My GP prescribed me Microlut for heavy period and I m also anemic with irom 4 umol/L, transferrin S. 6 and ferritin 8 ug/L, my LDL-chol is 3.3 mmol/L. I read that Microlut is contraindicated to patients with high LDL and with fribroids...What do you recommend?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Microlut contains levonorgestrel and it does not affect serum lipid levels significantly so it is not contraindicated in patients with increased LDL level. It is relatively safe as compared to other progesterones. It reduces the size of fibroid.
Advice
1.     Continue Microlut as recommended by your doctor.
2.     Ferrous sulfate tablet – one tablet daily (Brand name – Autrin, Dexorange) for 1 month
3.     Folic acid 5 mg (Tablet Folvite) – one tablet daily for 1 month
4.     Investigation – lipid profile, Hb%
Thanks
