Hello Dear. Medroxyprogesterone is effective in abortion. It changes the lining of your womb and thickens the mucus at the entrance of the womb which makes pregnancy less likely to occur. So even after taking this, if abortion doesnot occur or there is incomplete abortion, then the doctor will do a procedure called D&C and remove the contents. Complications or side effects to be precise are rare, on sort term medication. Just for your knowledge the side effects reported are- Drowsiness, Breast Pain, Depression, Unusual Vaginal Bleeding, Deep-Vein Thrombosis. But these are rare. So do not worry about it.
