Is Maxolon The Right Medicine For Severe Migraine?

I have had a pretty severe migraine since last Thursday. It was at it s worst on Friday but is still going Usually one Maxolon and 40 mg of Relpax will sort things out. However, five Relpax later have not done much to sort things out. I jave checked my temperature tonight and it is sitting at 38.5. Any suggestions? David

Hi David,
I would say you are over medicating yourself.
Relpax (eletriptan) dose should not exceed 80 mg/day. Higher doses does not necessarily provide benefit rather can increase side effects.
I would suggest you to report to your treating physician and ask for a changeover in treatment of acute attacks. Alternatives include frovatriptan, naratriptan and others.
If you are having frequent migraine attacks, you can go for prophylaxis treatment. Medications like propranolol, flunarizine effectively controls onset of migraine attacks in many patients.
