Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a woman with a Sci who is 13 weeks pregnant . I have dark loose stools like diarrhea. What can I do? I ve had to treat it with loparamide aka Imodium otherwise everything runs through me. Its been this way throughout my pregnancy . Is it safe?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Not at all, Loperamide is not safe in pregnancy at all. Since you are pregnant for 13 weeks and have dark loose stools, I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Gynecologist. Get a clinical evaluation. Get the stool and blood tested and if there is an infection then get safe-antibiotic in pregnancy that your Gynecologist would know the best. Do not try anything on your own as you would not know the safety. Avoid all the foods and beverages that can cause such a problem. Go for the boiled and cooled water and homemade food only.
