Is Ibrufen Advisable While Having Cancerous Tumor On The Liver?

I will call his doctor tomorrow, but in the meantime I ve very concerned. My boyfriend just had a chemo treatment to get rid of a cancerous tumor on his liver. He was prescribed oxycodone and said it did nothing but nauseate him. He went to the local pharmacy and was told to take ibuprofen. When he had a follow up with his doctor, he was told ibuprofen could make you bleed out! He should be taking tylenol. The pharmasist strongly disagrees, saying because he STILL drinks alcohol, he should not be putting tylenol in his system. What do you say?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ibuprofen is a better choice for person with liver disease as Tylenol may have some liver related side effects. However short term use can be justified and does't really cause any problem. You can take Ibuprofen as of now, the best choice is Oxycodone or Tramadol.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
