Hello and welcome to HCM,

A negative or non-responsive HIV test after 3 months of suspected exposure suggests that there is no HIV infection.
HIV infection should be suspected when there is history of high risk behavior- multiple sexual partners, sharing of used needles, iv drug abuse, needle stick injury, from mother to child, etc.
If you have fever, lymphadenopathy, diarrhea for 1 month and more than 10 % weight loss in 6 months, HIV infection should be suspected and the test for HIV should be done.

Thanks and take care
