Is Gabapentin Advisable For A Mild Diabetic Patient?

I am type 2 diabetic - very mild = last a1c 6.1. I do not have diabetic neuropathy, but my Dr. prescribed Gabapentin as a preventative. - 3 capsuels / day. Is this a good idea? This looks bad on insurance application & I am concerned about prescription over load.

Welcome at HCM
I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns.
As far as your case is concerned, I dont think GABAPENTIN is going to prevent the neuropathy. Strict sugar control is the key in your case. Focus on your blood sugar levels.
Meanwhile stay calm.

Hope your query is adequately addressed if you still have any feel free to ask
