Is Endep A Good Medication For Disc Fracture And Arthritis?

Hi my doctor has just prescribed me Endep, for compacted disc fracture and resulting arthritis in t12 if my spine. I m worried exactly what kind of drug is this? I am long term drug fearing and haven t drunk in 14 years so I like to be fully aware. It s not a benzo or anything is it? The pain has me insane though, interrupting everything in life. Thankyou, Amy

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Endep is amitriptyline. This was originally used as an antidepressant but it is now more commonly used to help with nerve related pain in persons with no history of depression.

It is not the benzodiazepine family of medications.

You can consider using it to help with the pain but if you are not comfortable, your doctor can give you an alternative.

I hope this helps
