Is Diclofenac Potassium The Right Medicine For Degenerative Disk Disease?

I have severe degenerative disks C4,5,6,and 7. I was prescribed Tramadol at first but then it became a regulated drug like an opioid so I changed to diclofenac pot 50 mg. I was wondering what the difference as far as decreasing my pain is. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as diclofenac potassium are the most commonly used medications to control pain and swelling, minimize disability, and improve the quality of life in patients with cervical spondylosis.

The major drawback of using these medications is their side effects involving stomach like gastritis or ulcers as well as kidney injury.

Opioid drugs like tramadol is considered as an effective alternative for patients who can not tolerate NSAIDs due to stomach issues.

However, these medications also have certain issues like addiction, constipation, and tolerance.

So, you may take certain precautions such as use of a proton pump inhibitor along with diclofenac potassium to overcome the acidity related stomach problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
