Is Cymbalta Different From Effexor?

What is the difference between cymbalta and effexor? My doctor wants to replace my effexor (150 & 75 mg daily) to cymbalta 60mg daily. I ve been on the effexor for a long time and am reluctant to change. Also, when making the change over, should it be done slowly or should I quit the effexor all at once? (I forgot to ask the doctor.)

As per your history is concerned Effexor is venlagaxin and cymbalta consists of duloxetine so both are different compounds and both are antidepressants.(Thanks)
