Is Claritin Advisable To Be Taken Along With Zyrtec?

At allergy Drs. suggestion, I am taking the generic brand of Claritin in the morning, Singular in the evening and now dermatologist suggested taking Zyrtec at noon. Do these all do different things? What benefits are there to taking so many and are there any bad side effects I should be concerned about? I am also currently taking allergy shots weekly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
It is fairly common for doctors to prescribe singulair and an antihistamine together in patients with severe allergies. However, zyrtec and claritin are the same type of drug and I do not see the point in giving you both. I would say to take the one of them that works best. The more antihistamine you add the more likely you will be to have side effects.
