Is Cipro Advisable For Pain In Abdomen Along With Belching And Constipation?

I gave diverticulosis, suspect a bout of diverticulitis since sat night. Very painful, constipated, and belching foul smelling gas from the raw fish last evening ( sushi ) . Am taking painkillers and started a cipro regimen . I gave the cipro for such attacks. Am I doing the right thing?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to protozoal or bacterial infection. But taking antibiotics with out doctors advise is not good. It is better to have a stool routine to rule out infection. Take enough fluids and electrolytes if you having ongoing diarrhea. I would recommend antibiotics like ofloxacin and ornidazole which covers protozoal as well as bacterial infection in such case. You should also take probiotics along with this.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
