Is CAT Scan Necessary For Ear Infection And Pain In Jaw And Outer Ear?
Hi I just received results of my blood work and white blood cells are over 1700 I am experiencing the symptoms of an ear infection which is why I went in. I have never felt pain like this before. The inside of my ear is painful as well as the places around my ear: my jaw is painful to close my outer ear and cheekbone. My doctor prescribed augmentin and Vicodin the pain medication isn t touching it. It s more painful that my c section birth four years ago. My doctor told me to go to ER and have a cat scan. Can I wait it out to avoid paying astronomical ER bills?
Ear infections are usually annoying in that they take a long time to resolve. but with the medications your doctor has prescribed you should be seeing improvements slowly. But if the pain is really unbearable, I would suggest an ENT opinion to at least rule out the chance of any foreign body inside you ear. If you cant wait till then, go to an ER , where they will check everything completely to find the cause and treat it. And yeah try keeping your ear dry, as wet conditions sometimes flare up an infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
