My blood work came back with my calcium being too high. Im taking diltiazem and was on hydrochlorot. My dr changed the hydrochlorot to bystolic. What are side effects? I m having to get up during night to go to bathroom every hour or so....is it a diuretic?

Hi & Welcome.

Incomplete data like age, gender, any associated medical illness or drugs intake not mentioned.

Bystolic (Nebivolol) is a β₁ receptor blocker with nitric oxide-potentiating vasodilatory effect used in treatment of hypertension.

It is not a diuretic.

Its most common side effects include decreased heart beats, fatigue, cold and clammy skin, sexual dysfunction, and difficulty in breathing especially in patients suffering from bronchial asthma.

Hydrochlorot (Hydrochlorthiazide) is a diuretic that is also used to treat high BP either along or in combination with other BP lowering medications such as Diltiazem.

As per the result of your blood test the calcium level is too high (hypercalcemia) which seems to be responsible for the increase frequency of urination particular at night.

You need to consult your treating doctor to find out the underlying cause for hypercalcemia like hyperthyroidism (overactive parathyroid glands), certain cancers like lung cancer and sarcoidosis.

Hope to have answered your query.

Best regards.
