Is Bystolic A Same Medicine?

I am taking indapamide and atenolol, I cant take Lisinopril due to the chest pain ! my doc says they don t make atenolol anymore and prescribed bystolic which is more expensive ! do you have any input as to what a person should be taking as I read the side effects for bystolic and don t want to take it ?

Yes, you are right. Bystolic is having many side side effects and hence should not be preferred when newer safer molecules are available. Newer highly cardio selective beta blocker like Carvedilol or metoprolol should be started instead Atenolol. These newer drugs are acting only on heart so side effects are very minimal. So discuss about starting metoprolol or Carvedilol with your doctor.
