Is Azithromycin Or Amoxicillin Better For Bronchitis?

I was recently diagnose with bronchitis due to a bad cough and low grade fever and I have a history of asthma. I was diagnosed in April with the same and my dr. gave me amoxicillian and was taking xopenex in my nebulizer also. This time I went to Urgent Care because my dr. wasn t available and they prescribed azithromycin. I looked up side effects for azithromycin and it said can cause heart attack. Not sure if I should take it or not. I do have a prescription for amoxicillian that I didn t take should I take that instead. Which is better results for bronchitis..

Hi..

Well it is not always necessary that Azithromycin can cause heart attack as it can occur in a very few rare cases or in certain mwdically compromised patients..

So if Amoxicillin is not working you can take Azithromycin or Amoxicillin with Clavulanate potassium so that it becomes more effective..

Along with it you can take cough suppressant like Dextromethorphan and along with it do steam inhalation.
If fever persist ypu can take Aceta.
Do sufficient rest and take light meals..

Hope I have answered your query.
Please let me know if I can assist you further..

Regards.
