Is Azithromycin Effective For Swollen Lymph Nodes?
I have wisdom tooth growing in slowly under right side molar pain is gone in mouth however lymph node on right side of neck under jaw is now swollen. is azithromycin used to treat this as I got a script for it about three weeks as a precaution for a deep cut on the hand which I did not use
Thanks for writing and have gone through your question.
Pericoronitis is a dental disorder in which gum tissue becomes swollen and infected around the wisdom teeth, it can develop when wisdom teeth only partially erupt (break through the gum). This allows an opening for bacteria to enter around the tooth and cause an infection.
You can take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin 500mg(if you are not allergic) tid for 5 days. Consult oral physician before taking these medicines.
Consult a oral physician and get yourself examined to rule the amount of space present for the tooth to erupt if space is there for the tooth to erupt then the gum covering over the wisdom tooth can be removed.
I would have treated you with amox rather than azithromycin.
Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.
Sincerely,
I find this answer helpful
