Is Amrolite S The Right Medication For Congestion And Breathing Difficulty In A Toddler?

My 3 yr old daughter is not sleeping because of breathing congestion related to cough. I can hear a grrr sound and her trying to breath by mouth. Earlier doctor prescribed ambrolite-s. She is coughing also. She is not having too much of runny nose. So should I continue with ambrolite-s or other cough syrup. She was also prescribed Montair lc. Please help.

I understand your concern.
Montek LC contains Montelukast and Levocetirizine, which is an anti-asthmatic medication suited to treat allergies. Since your daughter does not have runny nose, this medication need not be administered.
Ambrolite S Syrup is composed of:
1. Ambroxol - which is a mucolytic.
2. Terbutaline - which is a bronchodilator.
3. Guaifenesin -which is an expectorant and
4. Menthol- which acts as a cooling agent.
Since your daughter has symptoms of congestion and difficulty in breathing, this medication would be suitable for her to be given.
Kindly confirm the dose to be administered by consulting Pediatrician.
