Is Amoxicillin Advisable Before A Dental Appointment While On Cefuroxime?

My spouse has been prescribed cefuroxime for a urinary infection three days ago, She has a standing Rx for Amoxicillin ( 2 Gm) to be taken prior to dental appointment. ( Has had several joint replacements) Should she take the Amoxicillin prior to the dental appoint. She has A.M. appointment on the 5th and we have been unable to reach dentist?

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain as you have already missed the dental appointment then there is no need to take Amoxicillin as she is already taking another antibiotic and does not need Amoxicillin..

She is advised to take Amoxicillin prior to dental treatment to reduce the chances of infection post treatment..
Although Cefuroxime will also help in preventing infection..

She can although take a dose of Amoxicillin when you will go for dental treatment as per the appointment..
