Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been prescribed Acutret 5 mg for treating acne. This was prescribed when other antibiotic medicines did not work. After reading about isotretinoine on internet I am apprehensive about taking the medicine. Waxing should also not be done is what is written. Is that true? Will 5 mg tablet cause side effects?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe acne on face which seems to be due to hormonal changes, stress and clogged pores of sebaceous gland filled with sebum ,dead skin and bacteria get infected. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to make use of kojivit plus cream as it will lighten your skin and use product containing benzoyl peroxide. You can use Acutret 5 mg which is safe to use, however as it has long term side effects so you should avoid it. Drink plenty of water daily and add fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet. If condition doesn't start getting better in a month then consult dermatologist. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics course and can also go for chemical peel containing Glycolic acid. Apply Adapelene gel once at night. Also wash your face with mild soap and cold water twice a day.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
