Is Actalin Along With Levothyroxine Advisable For Thyroid Disorder?
What is Actalin? Does our bodies naturally produce it? Is it a prescription? Or, is it natural? Is it formulated from herbs, plants? Can I take Actalin in addition to my levothyroxine 112 mcg? Can I take Actalin instead of my Levo? Thank you.javascript:_discPopup()
Hi & Welcome. It's not advisable to take Actalin along with Levothyroxine. 1. Actalin is a natural dietary supplement formulated from herbs, multivitamins, various minerals including Iodine. 2. It is not a prescription medication. 3. There is no need to take Actalin in addition to your Levothyroxine to treat hypothyroidism. 4. It is claimed to support the optimal thyroid health, however there's no scientific study to prove its efficacy in the treatment of hypothyroidism. It is not going to benefit your thyroid in any way. Hence avoid taking it instead of Levothyroxine.
To ensure you are getting the adequate dose of Levothyroxine, please make sure your thyroid function tests (TSH, free T4 & T3) are well maintained in their optimal ranges. Best regards.
