Is Acamprosate Effective In The Treatment Of Alcoholism?

My cousin was given a prescription named Acamproste to help her quit drinking. She is a heavy drinker. This doesn t seem to come up under the search? Is she spelling it correctly to me? Also, is there something her doctor could give her for the shakes?
