Is ALT Level Of 133 A Cause For Concern?

I had what felt like a liver stone (I had gallbladder out 30 years ago). This has happened before, but this time I had a fever on and off for a week--it comes on especially in afternoon to evening. I had a blood panel screening done. Everything appears normal, except for my ALT which is 133. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

ALT values can vary slightly from one lab to the next but in general , the upper limit is approximately 56 U/l.

At 133, your value is very high. With the history of fever, it is possible that it is linked to an infection.
This means that if repeated in a few weeks after the symptoms have resolved ,there may be improvement.

If it remains high then your doctor may consider imaging.

I hope this helps
