Is 500mg Of Amoxil Advisable For Throat Inflammation And Soreness In Ear?

I have had an inflamed throat and sore ear for a few weeks and now I seem to be worse. I have been prescribed Amoxil by my GP yesterday (500 mg - 3 per day). I think I took these a few years ago and they were too strong for me and I just remembered now. Can I take one 500 mg a day? Also in the past I was given a Rulide tablet - one per day. I prefer one a day because taking 3 a day are just too strong for me and I would have to stop after a couple of days.

As per your complain it seems that you have an ear and throat infection leading to the following symptoms and the medicine given to you that is Amoxil contains active ingredient Amoxicillin and it has a dosage of taking thrice a day..

Taking nce a day will be ineffective as every medication has a period of action and it's activity diminishes after that..

Therefore you should take it thrice a day although you can reduce the concentration from 500 to 250 mg after discussion with your physician..

You should also do warm saline gargles, such throat lozenges and do steam inhalation to soothe your throat faster..
Antibiotic eae drops can be advised..
Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..

To prevent stomach upset you can take Rulide empty stomach even now..
