Is 500mg Cephalexin The Right Medicine For Cellulitis Infection?

My wife, 70 years old, had right hip replacement on April 24th, 2015. She suffered through a cellulite infection, taking 500mg Cephalexin and having the surgical area drained of 200+ccs of fluid. The surgery seems to be healing well but my wife is still suffering the remnants of the allergic reaction to the Cephalexin - stopped on May 23. The ortho doctor is against using a 7 Day Pack my wife s MD has suggested, using Allegara, Benadryl cream and Tagament but my wife is still itchy, with hives. Do you have any alternative to this treatment? Sinerely,

The only medication that may be considered to add to her current regimen outside of steroids would be singulair.

It is used in conjunction in other medications for allergies and in persons with asthma.

It may provide some additional assistance.
