Injured Index Finger. Swelling And Redness In The Knuckle. Tingling And Stiffness In The Finger. Advice?

I accidentally jabbed a sharp knife into my index finger just above the middle knuckle. Knife went in at an angle towards joint. Bled a lot but small cut that did not require stitching. Knuckle swelled and was red. X-rayed and no break and doctor said did not appear to be tendon damage. This was 13 says ago and knuckle is still enlarged and purple and the joint near my fingernail will not bend and instead bends upward all the time. Finger stiff and tingles.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The redness and swelling in the knuckle is likely to be due to a hematoma formation due to soft tissue injury in the area. If there is an extreme pain on movement then bone injury needs to be ruled out.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
