Infant Done Stool Test For Occult Blood, Suspected Milk Allergy, Low Birth Weight. What Can Be Done?
Hi , I have done a stool test for occult blood for my 11 month old baby 4 times since his 8th month. The 1st time the stool test showed +ve for occult blood and occasional RBCs. So we repeated the test and it turned out to be the same result. So our pediatrician suspected cow milk allergy asked us stop cerelac(its an instant baby food available in India with cereals and milk solids) and asked mother to stay away from all dairy products. We then repeated the test after a week after stoping the food as adviced. The result shoed negative this time. But we repeated the test after 2 months as the bay's weight gain isn't much (his birth weight was 3 kg and he now weighs only 61/2 kgs), this time the test is again positive for occult blood. Note: mother and baby are still on the diet that doctor suggested. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
