If You Had A Black Shadow Appear On A Dental

If you had a black shadow appear on a dental x-ray I have no symptoms. the dental assistant asked me was I experiencing pain or uncomforted I informed him no, he mentioned it looked abnormal sort of like my bone underneath but it got confusing fast he did mention my teeth appeared to be in perfect condition he mentioned on my follow up if they forgot to make mention that I be sure to recall it to their attention of the x-ray and if need be they could/would refer to a specialist but not to worry I am a slight bit worried as someone said this could be cancer?
