Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with ET 8 month ago after I had a stroke, my platelets count were 608 K/UL. I was on Coumadin and Hydroxyurea, after platelets decreased to 400 K/UL I was off from Hydroxyurea for two months and I was told to stop taking Coumadin. Instead of that I was on Aspirin 325 MG for 2 months to indefinitely. Now my platelet count are the same - 607 K/UL as it was before I got stroke. Aspirin is not lowering my platelets and Hematologist again wants me to take Aspirin and Hydroxyurea. Do not want to take this medication. I'm not comfortable with this aggressive medication. My father was taking Hydroxyurea and his bone marrow stopped produces blood. Can you tell me please was can I take instead of this
