I started having symptoms of a yeast infection, and let it progress without treatment, even though I often scratched it aggressively; after about a week, I noticed that the area was very tender, and the skin in some areas where I had scratched it frequently became open sores that hurt to touch. After finally making an appointment with the gynecologist, she said the sores looked to her like herpes, but she wasn't positive...so she ran a test along with the test for a yeast infection. The YI came back positive, and she gave me two pills and Nystatin cream to apply twice daily. The results for the herpes virus will take about a week to get back. I'm terrified that the result will be positive, and I am hoping that the sore-like appearance is only a result of the yeast infection going untreated for too long and friction from constant rubbing and scratching. Is there any telling, or will I just have to wait until the results are back? I don't see any small red blistering clusters anywhere, and it's been one day of using the nystatin cream and it seems to have relieved the itching and discomfort.
