I have the same question. I was on omeprazole for about 10 years and I've tried many times to get off of it! Each time the Reflux returned with a vengeance! I finally found a doctor who would actually listen to me and he suggested I try taking Ranitidine 150 Mg twice a day and then gradually taper off. Not much other help, but I have been taking Ranitidine now for about 3 months and I am down to only one tablet a day and NO Omeprazole. In a couple of weeks I will try dropping down to only a half a tablet, either morning and night or just one half tablet at night. I feel this is working and I hope to be completely free of ALL the acid reducers soon. Just in case, though, I keep a supply of Tums antacids handy! So far, though, I haven't needed them for several weeks. Getting OFF this stuff has been a tremendous challenge for. My question is, since it doesn't seem to be permanent, just how long does it take, usually, before my ED begins improving? I have noticed that it has been getting progressively worse over the past year or two. I am taking Losartan for HBP and Lovastatin to try bringing my cholesterol down some. I am at the point where the only sexual relief I can get is by hand and only lying on my back. Erections, if any, are not very firm and they don't last very long. I do tend to have an erection in the early morning, most days, but they are fleeting. Any suggestions?
