I have had epilepsy for 48 years - been on dilantin for all that time. Only had 4 seizues from 13 yrs old to 21 years old. Have ospeoporosis and cerebral atrophy or ataxia. So dilantin great for the seizures. As I have read if seizure free for 5 years - of weaning off. Neurologist I am seeing said per eeg I have generalized epilepsy. He said to go on vimpat - and I am slowly going on that and will start weaning off dilantin in time.
Well he said the cerebral problem due to epilepsy and dilantin. Today is 1st am I took 50mg of vimpat and I have been a basket case all day - more like in calm delirium with unclear seeing. I read how vimpat affects the cerebellum too. Is there another solution? I told him I would like another brain - and he said surgery is only done with focal epilepsy. When I saw my recent neuro he spent 1.5 hours hearing of my past hell. I will call him tomorrow about the vimpat dislike. And if I will be taking like 300mg and I am a mess on 50mg - life isn't and won't be living. Don't you want a study on me - You might get rich if a book - All I want is a cure that I can deal with.
