I have a red spot at the back of my throat on the right side. I felt it first while swallowing, then found it in the mirror. No sore throat with it, but I ve been feeling its slight presence, off and on, for a month or so. Just wondering what it might be. Many thanks for your attention. David
Understanding your concern. As per your query red spot at the back of my throat is due to streptococcal infection which is leading to strep throat. It could be due to tonsil stones, oral herpes and respiratory tract infection. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done and go for sputum and swab test as well. You should do is to do warm saline gargles at-least 2 to 3 times in a day. You should suck on lemon candy. Avoid fried , sharp and spicy food. Avoid drinking cold carbonated beverages. Maintain oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Do rinses with antimicrobial mouth wash as well. You can take soothening lozenges to reduce pain and discomfort. For reduction of pain and inflammation you should take ibuprofen or calpol. You should take antibiotic amoxicillin for at-least 5 days.
