I Broke My Ankle @ The End Of Jan. &

I broke my ankle @ the end of Jan. & had surgery to repair the complete fracture on Feb. 1st. The 1 1/2 weeks prior to surgery, I was prescribed Tramadol (pain medications were limited due to my Tylenol product allergy), which I took every 4-5hrs. for the pain. I was prescribed Hydrocodone the day of surgery & took that as prescribed most of the 2wks following surgery. 3 weeks after surgery, I began only taking either medication when the pain was not tolerable. Tramadol if the pain was @ about a level-7 & Hydrocodone if the pain level was higher. The period of late February & early March, I think I only took 3-4 pills & have taken neither since the 1st week in March. I still have, 9-11 more pills from the original 60 pills given w/each prescription.

That being said, I also have MS & my neurologist ordered my routine 3-4mth blood work, which I had done on April 1st. Those results showed an elevation in my liver enzymes; AST was 77 & ALT was 114.

Since both pain medications are listed as possible causes of elevated liver enzymes and/or the 9 lbs. I gained while being sedentary the past 2 mths. My question is, could either of these factors most likely be the cause, over some of the more serious causes listed? More specifically, since I hadn't taken any of the 2 pain medications for almost a month prior to the bloodwork, could they still effect my AST & ALT results on April 1st? Also, although the counts are outside the normal range are these counts high enough to indicate a more serious cause & concern? I'd like to note, that due to my MS medications I have only had probably 3-5 alcoholic drinks in the past 9 years, with the last one being probably 4 yrs. ago on a cruise. So, I know that alcohol can be ruled out as a possible cause.

I see my neurologist next week & his nurse informed me this morning that he would be ordering another bloodwork lab when I see him. However, I'm hoping to lower my anxiety until that is done next week & the time it takes for the new results to be given. Since, between my MS & broken ankle I'm hoping I don't have another major medical issue to deal with...Especially, now that both of those medical issues have seemed to stabilize & I'm so close to life becoming "normal" again after 2 long mths!
