I Am Worried About Taking Methtrexate After Melanoma Removal. Mother Died Of Lung Cancer

Hi I have just had a melanoma removed which was caught early with no spread.however I am worried about continuing taking methotrexate . I have avoided the sun most of my life but I live in Australia so you do get a lot of exposure. .My mother died of lung cancer too and I used to be a smoker and am concerned re this drug. I know the risk of high levels of inflamatory markers also increases risk of cancer. Advice would be appreciated
Thankyou

Hi. If your treating Doctor , Oncologist feels it necessary for methotrexate, you should continue. You definitely can have a second opinion or a detailed counselling session with your treating Doctor. Melanoma is a very fast spreading tumor .
