Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a registered dietitian and I am wondering of prealbumin levels are effected by fluid overload. I have a patient on nutrition support that should be meeting her protein needs but a prealbumin was check at the same time a proBNP was checked which was elevated. Can fluid overload falsely lower a prealbumin level? I know albumin can be effected by hydration status.
