I Am 67 Years Old And Have Been On Opiates

I am 67 years old and have been on opiates for 16 years ever since I was released from hospital after having had a case of necrotizing faciitis.(flesh eating disease). I've been on methadone for approx. 4 years after using 2000 mg. of morphine daily, and was taking 250 to 300 mg. of methadone per day until I retired from my job of 30 yrs, then I thought I wouldn't need it and unwisely tried to kick cold turkey, I'm sure as doctors you know that was a big mistake. I ended in the hospital and met a doctor who got me to 125mg and for the last 21 months have been at 90mg per day, but now I would like to cease taking it completely. It seems at my age and the length of time I've been using it may be difficult, some clinics I have recently called have turned down my request for assistance. I was wondering if you could give me some advise on how to cease taking it for good. Except for the little I've read on the internet, I really do not have a clue how to go about it.
Any advise would be gratefully received.
Thank you
