How To Withdraw From Sotalol?

have been on sotalol for three weeks 1/2 a 40 mg tablet twice a day after first ever af event lasting 1 day before normal rhythm restored. No shock treatment just a bag of jungle juice BP normal and rear rate 52 beats. No other meds are taken and no history I want to stop

Hello,

In your situation I really need to know why are you taking this drug? For palpitation or tachycardia or angina or do you have any ischemic heart disease.It's important because studies has done for gradual or sudden abrupt of this drugs.

As far the information you provide it seems to me that you are taking this for tachycardia. There are very low percentage of having new onset of angina. But if you already have angina or underlying ischemic heart disease then there are more then 15 percent risk of worsening of the angina. But many patients feel rebound tachycardia after quitting this drug but gradual decrease of dose decline the chances to the half.
