How To Withdraw From Diltiazem?

How do I stop taking DilTiazem 24 hr 120 mg caps.. I am getting several symptoms..caugh, runny nose, body aches and its not a cold, allergies or the Flu I also have swelling in my hands and feet and face on occassion but not every day..didn t have that before taking this..So how can I start the process of not taking it before my next Dr. appointment?

Hi,

Diltiazem can cause the side effects you mention, especially the swelling, and so it may not be a good medication for you. However, I do not know the reason you are taking it, and so I would definitely recommend you discuss stopping it with your doctor so that he or she can decide if they need to switch to a different medication instead.

However, if your doctor decides you can stop it, you do not need to gradually lower the dose, it is safe to just stop it; again, after consulting with your doctor.
