Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started Buspar 3 weeks ago at at 5mg. in the morning and 5 at night. Then it was upped to 10 in the morning and 10 at night. I feel very anxious on it and want to get off it. Can I go back to 5mg. for a week and then stop? I used to take one zanax[ a day when I felt anxious and that worked much better!
The use of this Buspar should never be abruptly stopped because it will create withdrawal symptoms when the dosage is not gradually reduced. One of the Buspar withdrawal symptoms can include headache.
I suggest to gradually lower the dose by 5 mg in the morning and evening. Then after three weeks you can go at 5 mg per day.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
