Hi, I guess you could say I am getting desperate for help. I have been taking Klonopin for over 10 years now. I was originally prescribed it for insomnia and I was taking 0.5 mg. twice at night before I went to bed. I have now cut the second one I take once I wake up but I cut it in half. I would so like to get off of this drug but I don t know what else to do or how much I should taper off. It is impossible for me to sleep without this horrible drug. I am still not sleeping well at all, probably getting only 5 hours of sleep a night and I truly believe that if I can once again be free of this drug I will sleep normally. The problem is that I don t know how to get off of it..
Benzodiazapines or the group of drug you were taking are notorious for dependence. Dose withdrawal should be planned with regular psychiatrist follow up and tapering of dose slowly with decreasing dose and increasing drug interval for long term effectiveness.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
